Abraham Teerlink

Abraham Teerlink ( born November 5, 1776 in Dordrecht, † 26 May or in July 1857 in Rome) was a Dutch painter and draftsman.

Abraham Teerlink Junior was bourgeois descent, his parents were Abraham Teerlink Senior and Johanna Smits. As his artistic talent became clear him of the Dutch painter Michiel Versteegh adopted as his disciple, and later J. Kelderman and Arie Lamme were his teachers. Teerlink began with copies of famous masters, but then became a landscape painter, which he often integrated agricultural scenes in the pure landscape representation.

In 1807 he was one of three young painters in the Kingdom of the Netherlands awarded the Prix de Rome. Then King Louis Napoleon was aware of him, the Teerlink granted a scholarship so he could complete his education in Paris and Rome. Enthusiastic about his first experience abroad, he never wanted to return.

Teerlink spent eighteen months in Paris, where he copied paintings in the Louvre under the direction of Jean -Louis David. He wrote there also a number of poems. In 1809 he received orders in Rome, stay there lasted longer than originally planned, until it is a year later decided to settle permanently there. 1836 married Teerlink the Italian Anna pussy. In Rome, he received an art professor.

Teerlink made ​​his intent true, never to return to the Netherlands, but took part in exhibitions with works there, with whom he found great recognition. 1839 hit him King William I of the Netherlands Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion. He was a member of the Koninklijke Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Amsterdam, as well as several Italian academies.
