Academy of Arts in Tirana

The University of the Arts (Albanian Universiteti i ArtEve ), until April 2011 Academy of Fine Arts (Albanian Akademia e ArtEve ), in Albania's capital Tirana is a public university for art. The most important art school in the country it was attended by almost all educated Albanian artist, unless they have studied abroad.

Organization and facilities

The University of the Arts has three faculties music, visual arts and theater. It currently has nearly 1,000 students and 400 faculty not quite.

The campus has an auditorium and various lecture rooms.

The adjacent, founded in 1966, Scientific Library of the University of the Arts ( Biblioteka Shkencore e Universitetit të ArtEve ) is the largest and most important university library of Arts in Albania. We offer especially literature of the art science, and general literature. The current stock of around 35,000 books (including digital literature ), documents, catalogs, magazines, audiovisual materials etc, many of them unique.

History

The college was founded in 1966 as the Higher Institute of Arts ( institute i Larte i ArtEve ), as the State Conservatory of Tirana ( Conservatory Shtetëror i Tiranës ), the School of Fine Arts ( Shkolla e ArtEve të Bukura ) and drama school Aleksander Moisiu ( e Shkolla Larte e Aktorëve Aleksander Moisiu ) were merged. The university has been recognized as a university and renamed first in Akademia e ArtEve and in April 2011 Universiteti i ArtEve Through education reform in 1990.
