Accademia Galileiana

The Galileo Academy of Science and Arts in Padua (it. Accademia di galileiana scienze, lettere ed arti ) is one of the oldest existing academies in Europe. It goes back to the Accademia dei Ricovrati (lat. Societas Recuperatorum ), which was founded in 1599 by the later Cardinal Federico Cornaro Baldissera Bartolomeo with 25 scholars, including Galileo Galilei. The present name in honor of her prominent founding member was the Academy in 1997. Like all inspired by Renaissance humanism educational institutions want them modeled on the Platonic Academy bring together leading personalities from the society, art, natural sciences and humanities to fruitful exchange.
