Acenaphthylene ( acenaphthalene ) is a white to slightly yellowish solid, which belongs to the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Acenaphthylene found in coal tar ( 0.3% ) and in small amounts in crude oil.
Properties
In water acenaphthylene is almost insoluble in benzene, chloroform and heated ethanol soluble contrast. Acenaphthylene acting mutagenic and lovely.
Use
The largest part of acenaphthylene is first hydrogenated to acenaphthene, which is required for the production of naphthalic anhydride and intermediates for plastics, dyes, color pigments, insecticides and pharmaceutical products.
