Acetylenedicarboxylic acid is a chemical compound selected from the group of carboxylic acids. It is the simplest dicarboxylic acid having a C ≡ C triple bond.
Production and representation
Acetylenedicarboxylic was first described in 1877 by the Polish chemist Ernest Bandrowski. They can be obtained in methanol or ethanol by dehydrobromination of α, β - dibromosuccinic acid with potassium hydroxide. The reaction yields of potassium bromide and the potassium salt of acetylene dicarboxylic acid, which is treated with sulfuric acid to obtain acetylenedicarboxylic acid.
Properties
Acetylenedicarboxylic is a beige solid which is soluble in water.
Use
Find use especially the di-esters of acetylenedicarboxylic acid which are used as intermediates in the preparation of heterocycles, as well as dienophiles in the Diels -Alder reaction (for example, dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate ).
