Acetylide

Acetylides are salts of alkynes having a terminal carbon-carbon triple bond. An acetylide ion is therefore a carbanion, which is apparent from the deprotonation of an ethyne derivative. Due to the high pK a value of 25, however, to quite strong bases necessary ( for example, butyllithium or amides such as sodium ). The simplest is the acetylide derived from ethyne acetylide anion. Acetylides are reactive species and are well suited for nucleophilic substitution reactions or additions. Schwermetallacetylide are explosive substances of great sensitivity in the dry state. Therefore, for example, no copper parts or metallic materials, which contain more than 70% copper may be used for storage / transit / measurement acetylenhaltiger gases.

The name is derived from the common name of the ethyne, acetylene.
