Achterwehr

Achterwehr is a town in Schleswig -Holstein, west of the state capital of Kiel located. Large areas of the community are part of the natural park Westensee. On the edge of the village, the river meanders past Eider.

Geography

The municipality belongs to the district of Nice Wahld and the goods Marutendorf and High Schools. South of Achterwehr are the Ahrensee and Poolsee. The historical Achterwehrer Ship Canal connects the North Sea-Baltic Canal to the Eider.

History

Achterwehr was first mentioned in 1375 in the document book of the city of Lübeck. The name is Low German, meaning " behind the weir".

Good High Schools

The estate originally belonged to Good small North Sea in the field. The manor house and the dairy were built around 1802. Since 1948 it is used as an experimental farm of the Institute of Agronomy and Plant Breeding, Christian- Albrechts- University in Kiel.

Policy

Consisting of eleven members of the municipal council is made up since May 2013, five members of the CDU, three members of the SPD and three members of the civil society " living community " together.
