Acireale Cathedral

The Cathedral of Maria Santissima Annunziata in Acireale is the cathedral of the Diocese of Acireale, a Suffraganbistums the Archdiocese of Catania in the Region Sicily church of the Roman Catholic Church.

The church was built as a parish church 1597-1618, in the 18th century it was renovated. The neo-Gothic façade ( 1900) is based on a design by Giovanni Battista Filippo Basile. Here, the Baroque façade was obtained.

The three-nave church still shows the design of the late Renaissance, which has been transformed by Baroque chapels and facilities. A chapel from the 17th century, is dedicated to St. Venera. Since 1844 the Church Cathedral.
