Acrophony
Akrophonie ( sound from the Greek akros = peak and phonein = ) is the method to name the letters of a writing for an object or an animal that starts with the same letter. An example of this is the Phoenician script:
- Aleph = ox
- Beth = house
- Gimel = camel
- Dalet = door leaf
This is the first step in the conversion of a character font in an alphabetic script.
