ACTEW Corporation

ACTEW Corporation Limited is a public holding company in Australia. She is responsible for the maintenance of primary care networks in the capital, Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory. These include water, wastewater, natural gas, telecommunications and electricity.

Australian Capital Territory Electricity and Water ( ACTEW ) was formed in 1988 from the former ACT Electricity Authority ( ACTEA ). At that time, the Australian Capital Territory had received self-government and all state-controlled utility services were combined to form a company. This was in 1995 converted to a stock corporation ACTEW Corporation to better respond to the deregulation of the market can.

In October 2000, the ACTEW Corporation was formed as part of a public-private partnership, a joint venture with the Australian Gas Light Company (AGL ), which ACTEW became a holding company. The areas of electricity and natural gas were transferred to the new company ActewAGL; ACTEW continued to be in possession of the water supply and sewerage networks.
