Action (TV channel)

Action is a Canadian, English-language TV station, with its headquarters in Toronto, Ontario. The station broadcasts mainly action series and movies of different production years. The station is operated by Shaw Media.

History

The station began to broadcast his program when he received the approval of the Canadian broadcasting regulatory body, the Canadian Radio - Television and Telecommunications Commission ( CRTC ) under the station name Action Television in November 2000. The broadcasting license was awarded to the transmitter operator Alliance Atlantis. On 18 January 2001, was acquired Alliance Atlantis through a joint venture between Canwest and Goldman Sachs Capital (as CW Media known). Thus, the station belonged to CW Media. On 31 August 2009 the station was renamed by the acquisition in the name of "Action".

On 27 October 2010 there was a further acquisition of the sender, by Shaw Media. Shaw Media took over Canwest and the shares of Goldman Sachs Capital.
