Acupressure

The acupressure (from the Latin acus, " needle " and Premere " press " ), Japanese Shiatsu (指 圧), also called Acupuncture is a healing method which is used in particular in Traditional Chinese Medicine ( TCM) and Japanese medicine. It is in addition to various massage techniques and chiropractic methods also part of Chinese Tuina massage.

When acupressure blunt pressure on certain points of the body is exercised. This method has historically been the precursor of acupuncture and uses the same meridians (meridians ) and their pressure points ( tsubo ). At the World Health Organization, WHO, acupressure is classified as a therapy under the heading " acupuncture ". Often the term Acupuncture is used. Acupressure can be safely used by laymen and self-treatment by painful points on muscles or tendons are pressed for a few seconds with the fingertips.

From the standpoint of medicine, the existence of meridians and tsubo has not been established.

The practical success with acupuncture, however, have led to recognition as a treatment for many health insurance companies.
