Acúrsio Carrelo

Acúrsio Freire Alves Carrelo, also Acúrcio Freire Alves Carrelo ( born March 16, 1931 in Lourenço Marques, today's Maputo, Mozambique; † January 9, 2010 in Portugal), was a Portuguese roller hockey and soccer star. At club level, he was active for FC Porto, with whom he was champion twice and won the cup.

The European-derived Carrelo originally played in the colonial capital, Lourenço Marques for Ferroviário and was transferred in 1955 because of his striking talent for FC Porto in the mother country. In the 1950s, football was still largely amateur sport in Portugal. Often players exerted even more sports. Acúrsio Carrelo divided his interests between roller hockey, where he was among the pioneers of the sport at FC Porto and was active as a striker, and football.
