Acworth is a town in Sullivan County, New Hampshire. In the United States Census 2010 Acworth had 891 inhabitants.

History

The city is named after Lord Acworth, an English nobleman. The city was founded is first in 1752, when the city was still called for a colonial governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony Burnet. As settled no settlers under these statutes, the settlement was vacant in 1766, and finally reestablished in 1772 as Acworth. The City of Acworth, Georgia has its name from this city because a dortiger railway engineer came from here.

The publisher, author and Member of Parliament Hiram Orcutt (1815-1889) was born in Acworth.

Geography
