Ada Rehan

Ada Rehan C. ( born April 22, 1857 in Limerick as Delia Crehan; † January 8, 1916 in New York City ) was a popular American stage actress of the late 19th century.

Life

Ada Rehan was born on 22 April 1857 in Limerick as Crehan Delia. Her parents, William and Janet Crehan, emigrated with their children to America in 1862 and opened a small shop in Brooklyn. Like their older sisters before her got Ada, as she was called in the family, a sound vocal and dance training at the couple John Drews in Philadelphia.

Her big break came in the late 1870s, when Ada Crehan entered the theater company of Augustin Daly ( 1838-1899 ), one of the most successful theater manager on Broadway, at. After her name was incorrectly printed as Ada Rehan C. in a program - they kept that in the later years. Among many pieces of modern society - Ada Rehan celebrated great successes in Shakespearean roles, including as Rosalind, Viola, Katherine and Portia. In the later years she appeared in extensive concert tours, including USA, England, Germany and France.

1905 was Ada Rehan on her theater career and lived until her death in 1916 rather withdrawn in her New York apartment.
