Adam Matysek ( born July 19, 1968 in Piekary Śląskie, Poland ) is a former Polish footballer and current football coach.

Career as a player

In the club

The goalkeeper comes from the youth of Zagłębie Wałbrzych. In 1988 he moved for a year to local rivals Górnik Wałbrzych, then returned to Zagłębie. After he was appointed Keeper of the Polish Under-21s now, he moved in 1989 to the Polish first division club Slask Wroclaw.

After relegation in 1993 he went on the recommendation of Jacek Jarecki, the former goalkeeper of the SC Fortuna Köln, Germany after the 2nd Bundesliga to Fortuna Cologne as successor Uwe Zimmermann. He quickly developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the second league, before put him in October 1994 suffered cruciate ligament damage for twelve months out of action. After that, he could not prevail as a goalkeeper and therefore played from 1996 to FC Gütersloh. There he quickly established himself, was first in the league Gütersloh, and in his second season his parades were a reason why the FC starred for the promotion to the 1st Bundesliga long. What was denied to the goods Lohern, Matysek succeeded shortly thereafter. Even on the opening day of the 1998/99 season he ran for the Gütersloh, but was surprisingly committed by Bayer 04 Leverkusen for 2,000,000 DM release, as there turned out goalkeeper Dirk Heinen. He first attended all season games and was with Bayer 04 runners-up.

However, after blunders in the Champions League against Lazio and Dynamo Kiev, he lost his place to Frank Juric, he could replace illness again. However, he remained controversial, and had to confront in his third season with Pascal Zuber Buhler, who eventually replaced him.

Matysek returned to a total of 118 missions in the 2nd Bundesliga and 78 in the 1st Bundesliga in 2001 returned to Poland. He first played in the first round as a substitute goalkeeper Zagłębie Lubin, joined the second round, however, to RKS Radomsko. After this season, he ended his active career in 2002. In total he played 136 games in the 1st league in Poland.

In the National Team

On 3 December 1991, he played his first international match for the Polish national football team against Egypt. Overall, he ran 34 times for Poland on national and also belonged to the squad at the World Cup 2002.

Career as a coach

Since 1 July 2005, Adam Matysek works as a goalkeeping coach at the 1st FC Nuremberg.
