Adam Wiśniewski-Snerg

Adam Wisniewski - Snerg ( born January 1, 1937 in Płock, † 23 August 1995 in Warsaw) was a Polish science fiction writer.

Life

Wisniewski - Snerg lost very early on his parents and was raised along with his older brother Stanisław by an aunt. He lived since the age of eleven in Warsaw, where he taught himself further after primary school. Shortly after the Second World War his family was decimated when Stanisław was convicted of the alleged resistance to Communism to life imprisonment. Wisniewski - Snerg never put down a high school diploma and could not take a degree. In 1968 he published his first story in the magazine Anonymous "Kamena ". His first novel, published in 1973 Robot was chosen by the Polish science fiction readers to the important Polish science fiction novel since 1945. Adam Wisniewski - Snerg is considered the best Polish science fiction author Stanisław Lem after. Without much attention to achieve among scientists, he tried his hand at the unified field theory. His book Jednolita teoria czasoprzestrzeni (about Unified Theory of space-time, a contribution to theoretical physics, in which he rejects Einstein's theories ) found a publisher, so he let it print in 1990 at his own expense.

Adam Wisniewski - Snerg committed suicide in 1995. Some of his works were published posthumously.

As important themes in his novels The Ark and The Gospel According to Lump in the Matrix films reappear (only the protagonist recognizes the sham nature of reality, all people play a predetermined role in a secret writer), it has repeatedly among Polish readers discussions given whether the Wachowski siblings have used in their film trilogy ideas of Adam Wisniewski - Snerg.

Fellow writer Janusz A. Zajdel took the highly intelligent Adam Wisniewski - Snerg as a model for the character of Adi Cherryson called sneer that in Zajdels dystopia Limes inferior ( 1982, German 1993) other helps to outwit the IQ test of a police state.
