Addison Hehr

Flick Addison Hehr ( born October 27, 1909 in Cleveland, Ohio, † February 27, 1971 in Canoga Park, California ) was an American art director.

Life and work

About the early years Hehrs little is known; already in the 1930 census he is listed as residing in Los Angeles. In Hollywood he was only interrupted by his service as a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II, active in the following two decades in subordinate positions before he was first used at the beginning of the 1950s as art director.

From 1951 to 1958 Hehr was in the service of Twentieth Century Fox, from the following year he designed Filmbauten for MGM. Last Hehr was no longer tied to a production company and also worked for television. In his two decades working as chief designer designed Hehr scene images for films of different genres - from science fiction film ( The Day the Earth Stood Still ), about the war drama ( The Desert Rats, Baptism of Fire, The Young Lions ) to the Western ( Story of Jesse James, the Teufelsweib of Texas, Missouri). There were films in which stars such as Gary Cooper, Doris Day, Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, Robert Mitchum, Rock Hudson and William Holden played the lead roles.

For his artistic scene community work ( including George W. Davis and Henry Grace) at the two major Western Cimarron and The Wild was the West Addison Fehr received one Oscar nomination. Addison Hehr was buried in the cemetery Forest Lawn Memorial Park ( Hollywood Hills ).
