After the club reached an agreement with the Australian Ice Hockey League, he was still allowed to enter into playing the current season, but had to play the game plan of the Avalanche to end whose previous results remained. In addition, the Club undertook to take over the entire squad of players Avalanche. Under the provisional name Adelaide A's arrived in Adelaide on the end of the season in sixth place in the table and thus missed the playoffs. For the 2009 season, the club name was changed to Adelaide Adrenaline in order to distinguish themselves from the Avalanche. By a 3-2 final victory after overtime Adelaide succeeded under the new name in 2009 for the first time also winning the Goodall Cup, the championship title of the AIHL.
