Adept (Band)

Adept is a Swedish post-hardcore band from Trosa.

Band History

The beginnings

Adept was founded in 2004 and consists of the musicians Robert Ljung (vocals), the two guitarists Jerry Repo and Jacob Papinniemi, bassist Tobias Ottoson and drummer Gabriel Hellmark. Already in the founding year they released their first demo Hopeless Illusions, recorded and sold on their own. Their first EP, which was released a year later, was funded out of pocket. The second EP, The Rose Will Decay, was released as a self production. Due to the great success and the rapidly growing awareness of the band, Panic & Action became aware of the group and took them under contract.

Panic & Action and Success

On 4 February 2009 the first album of the group appeared. It's called Another Year of Disaster. In October, the EP Shark followed! Shark! Shark!. In 2010 the band went together with Her Bright Skies, which is also under contract to stand at Panic & Action on tour in Germany. The The Toughest Kids Tour comprised 6 concerts. The venues were Hamburg, Berlin, Osnabrück, Munich, Stuttgart and Cologne. In August 2010, work began on the successor of Another Year of Disaster. These could the band with Frederik Nordström, an experienced music producer, who has already worked with In Flames, Bring Me the Horizon and At the Gates. On 11 March 2011, the second album was released with the name Death Dealers. The single release was published on 4th of March. The band played their first European tour that starts in Sweden with While She Sleeps and Walking With Strangers as support. This was followed by concerts in Russia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy and France. In May the band as part of this tour Europe again toured through Germany. On this tour, the group was to be seen together with As Blood Runs Black, Caliban and For Today. This tour also two concerts in Austria were planned. Adept played the opening act for A Day to Remember on their European tour.

Current Situation

Since 4 May 2011, the band toured again together with the German Metalcore formation Caliban through Europe. In addition to individual concerts in Spain, Hungary, France, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and Germany, the group will also be featured on some prestigious European festivals, including the Vainstream Rockfest, Nova Rock, the Power Festival, Pukkelpop, the Greenfield Festival, the Mach1 Festival, Graspop Metal Meeting, Deichbrand, Summer Breeze and the Serengeti Festival.

On 9 June 2011, the record label, the band announced that Adept separate until further by her guitarist Jacob Papinniemi. First, the current Constrain guitarist Andrew Chramer was used as a substitute, but replaced shortly afterwards by Gustav Lithammer, the guitarist of Saving Joshua. On September 13, the band announced on Facebook that Gustav now has a firm place in the band and will go with them to the upcoming European tour. This leads, of course, by Germany. Adept plays along with More Than A Thousand and Walking With Strangers in Berlin, Cologne, Wiesbaden and Hamburg. For the beginning of 2012 a tour is planned by Sweden. It also covers the song " Riot In Everyone" by Crash Diet for Panic & Action compilation album. In March 2012, the band tours with Heaven Shall Burn and Rise to Remain by England and the Sweden tour has not yet received some dates.

On 7 June 2012, the band announced that they will move in September of the year for the recordings to a third studio album in the studio Fredman. There, they will work together again with Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd. The album will be a mixture of the two previous albums. On February 6, 2013, the album was finally announced under the title " Silence The World" for 22 March of the year. In addition, the band is touring in April 2013 by the UK and Germany and will occur at some festivals in Europe.
