Adiantum Maidenhair ( Adiantum pedatum )
The Adiantum Maidenhair ( Adiantum pedatum ) is a species of the genus maidenhair ferns.
Features
The Adiantum Maidenhair fern is a perennial plant that reaches the plant height of 20 to 60 centimeters. It forms a rhizome. The outline of the leaf blade is semi-circular to circular, their midrib divides into two identical branches. The pinnules have a length of up to 2 centimeters, there are more than two spore bearing cloth available.
The Sporenreife is in July and August.
Occurrence
The Adiantum Maidenhair comes in North America, East Asia and the Himalayas before in humus- rich, moist forests, riparian zones and waterfalls.
Use
The Adiantum Maidenhair fern is rarely used as an ornamental plant in groups of trees. He is culture since at least 1635. There are some varieties (selection):
- ' Compactum ': The plant is stocky.
- ' Laciniatum ': The pinnules are slotted.
- ' Imbricatum ': The pinnules grab one above the other, the plant reaches stature heights of 10 to 20 centimeters.
