Adina Mosque

The Adina Mosque was one of the largest mosques in the Middle Ages in Bengal. It was the largest mosque in the entire Indian subcontinent.

Construction

The Adina Mosque was built in 1373. The builder was Sultan Sikandar I., son of Ilyas Shah. It is located in Hazrat Pandua or Firuzabad, in the district of Malda in West Bengal.

History

Sikandar Shah could be compared to the Caliph of Damascus, Baghdad, Cordoba and Cairo, which also built magnificent mosques comparable in their capitals.
