Adjective phrase
The adjectival phrase ( Maßphrase ) is a term used in syntactic theory of transformational grammar. This refers to a syntactic complex, which is to be understood as a projection of an adjective.
The X -bar theory sees the rather functional category DEG ( DEGREE ) as head of the adjectival phrase to generalize specific features of executed syntactic substitution rule ( expansion) and transmission lexical specifications (projection).
