Administrative divisions of the Republic of Buryatia

The Republic of Buryatia in the Siberian federal district of the Russian Federation is divided into 21 Rajons and 2 urban districts (as of 2014).

The Rajons are divided into a total of 18 municipalities ( gorodskoje posselenije ) and 252 rural municipalities ( selskoje posselenije ).

Urban districts

Both city circuits each comprise only a village, the eponymous city. The county Sewerobaikalsk is surrounded by the territory of the Severo- Baikalsky rayon ( number 17 on the map ) on the northwest shore of Lake Baikal. The urban district of the Republic capital of Ulan -Ude extends between Ivolginsky (8) and Saigrajewski rayon (6).

Rajons

The largest part of the area of ​​Rajons Bargusinski, Bauntowski, Chorinski, Pribaikalski and Severo- Baikalsky ( over 95% each ) are community- free territory ( meschselennaja Territorija ) taken, as about 77 % of the Jerawninski rayon and significant portions ( about 7 to 35% ) the Rajons Bitschurski, Ivolginsky, Kjachtinski and Muchorschibirski. In these territories there are no villages and permanent residents. In the table, the surfaces of these Rajons are given in whole numbers, including community- free territories.
