Adnan Polat

Adnan Polat ( born 1953 in Aşkale, Erzurum ) is a Turkish businessman. He was from March 2008 to May 2011 President of the Istanbul Sports clubs Galatasaray and is first President of the Turkish Ceramics Federation.

Life and work

Upon successful completion of the advanced level in 1976 Adnan Polat graduated from the Long Iceland University in the U.S. Business Administration. After graduating, he returned to Turkey and started his career in the construction industry to. From 1981, he spent ten years as CEO of EGE Ceramics. He is also the owner of the Polat Renaissance Hotel.

In 1997 he was appointed Honorary Consul of Thailand. Two years later he became a candidate of the Republican People's Party in the election for the office of Mayor of Istanbul, but had no success. In 2007 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Adnan Polat was between 1992 and 1996, the Vice President of Alp Yalman at Galatasaray. Between 2006 and his election as the 33rd President of the Association in March 2008, he was also vice president under Özhan Canaydın. From March 2008 to May 2011 he held the position of club president.

He is married since 1980 with his wife Ayse Polat and father of two children.
