Adolf Jarisch

Adolf Jarisch senior, (* February 15, 1850 in Vienna, † March 20, 1902 in Graz, cause of death: typhoid fever ) was an Austrian physician.

Adolf Jarisch was a dermatologist first assistant Ferdinand von Hebra (1816-1880), who created the first dermatology clinic in the world in Vienna. Adolf Jarisch was an excellent theorist and therapist and found the chemistry and histology in the service of dermatology. In 1888 he became an associate professor of dermatology in Innsbruck and in 1892 full professor in Graz. Along with Karl Herxheimer (1861-1942), he discovered the Jarisch -Herxheimer reaction in syphilis therapy.

His son Adolf Jarisch junior (1881-1965) was also a researcher of international standing.
