Adolf von Heydeck

Gustav Adolf ( Adolph ) Heideck, 1836 by Heideck (* April 25, 1787 in Dessau, Saxony -Anhalt, † January 23, 1856 ibid, also Adolf von Heydeck, called Poussin - Heydeck; pseudonym: AH Valentini ) was a German art collector, painter, etcher and engraver.

Life

Heydeck was the natural son of Prince Albert Friedrich of Anhalt- Dessau (1750-1811) from an illegitimate relationship with Johanna Louise Frank. It was only on September 8, 1836, at the age of 49 years, he was elevated to the ducal sustained - dessauischen nobility.

He was in some ways his pupil, as this encouraged by his cordial relationship with the much older Johann Christian Reinhart (1761-1847) him with professional references and recommendations. Otherwise Heydeck was self-taught. His preference was for the landscape painting. From 1813 to 1820 he stayed to study at Rome.

Under his leadership sat down in the 1850s in Dessau, a committee for the erection of a monument to his uncle Prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz of Anhalt- Dessau (1740-1817) a, on October 20, 1858 - was unveiled at the Dessau Neumarkt - more than two years after Heydecks death.

Heydeck left behind an extensive collection of paintings, drawings and engravings. His home town of Dessau he left after his death, a bequest of 8,000 thalers.
