Adrian, Count of Orléans

Hadrian (Latin Adrianus, so named Adrian, 793 testifies; † before 821 ) was a Frankish nobleman who belonged to the family of Gerold Onen. His father was Gerold, his brother Erbio. Hadrian's importance lies in the fact that he probably represents the genealogical connection between the Onen and Gerold Count Odo of Orléans, and thus probably also to the Konradihaus Africans.

Gerold named his son manifest after Pope Hadrian I, who had taken office 772 and 774 received Charles the Great after his victory over the Lombards and their king Desiderius in Rome. It is therefore assumed that Gerold took part in the campaign 773/774 and a visit to 774, suggesting the earliest 772 the birth of Hadrian, and probably narrows to the time shortly after 774. Fittingly, Hadrian in the year 793 the first time ( and last time ) personally makes its appearance, as " Hadrian, the Gerold's son " a certificate " for my biological brother Erbio the soul " issue. In 821 Hadrian had passed since his widow Forest Council with the consent of Count Uto ( here it will be to Odo of Orléans, her son or nephew ). An office or a title is not known for Hadrian.

The question whether it is at Hadrian's father to Gerold the Elder ( 777/784 testifies ) or his son Gerold the Younger ( 786 testified for the first time, X 799 ) is, is controversial in research. Since Walahfrid Strabo, the younger Gerold was (probably at his death 799 ) was without issue, but on the other hand, believed that Hadrian's brother Erbio 808 have still been alive, is - under these conditions - only Gerold the Elder as the father in question.
