Adrian Severin

Adrian Severin ( born March 28, 1954 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian politician (PSD) and Member of the European Parliament.

Life

Severin was dated 12 December 1996 to 29 December 1997 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania. In the wake of Romania's accession to the European Union, he heard since 1 January 2007, the European Parliament, where he was a member of the Socialist Group.

After the European elections in 2009, was re-elected at the Severin, he was next to Massimo D' Alema as a promising candidate for the office of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. In November 2009, however, Catherine Ashton was nominated for this office.

In March 2011, the British Sunday Times published articles on the cash-for- Laws affair. As lobbyists disguised journalists of the newspaper from 2010 had several MEPs offered huge amounts of money if they influence in its favor on the legislation in the European Parliament. Three parliamentarians were received on next Severin Ernst Strasser ( Austria, ÖVP) and Zoran Thaler (Slovenia, SD). Severin filed a purported lobbyists appointed by the amendment and called for the transfer of the agreed 12,000 euros. After the reporters had revealed her true identity, Severin insisted he had " done nothing illegal ". On March 22, he was expelled from the Socialist Group Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, by whose side he was also asked to resign as parliamentarians. While Strasser and Thaler on 20 March 21, laid down their their mandate, leaning Severin from a cancellation. On 23 March 2011, the European Anti-Fraud Office launched a fast-track procedure against Severin and the other two MPs.
