Adriana Caselotti

Adriana Mitchell Caselotti ( born May 16, 1916 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, † January 19, 1997 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American singer and voice actor who became known as Stimmengeberin Snow White from the Disney movie.

Life

Adriana Caselotti was born in Connecticut, but grew up in Rome, where her mother worked as an opera singer. When she returned to the United States, her father was just commissioned by the Walt Disney Company in search of a young singer who should speak and sing the title role in the animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ( 1937). More than 150 candidates were already heard and rejected, including the teen star Deanna Durbin. Caselotti finally suggested his daughter, who was the endorsement by Disney screen test immediately. Her clear, gentle soprano seemed ageless ( Caselotti was already 18 ) and became an integral part of the figure whose appearance was, however, not designed by Adriana Caselotti, but according to the dancer Marjorie Belcher (later the wife of Gower Champion ).

After the film by re- performances, video releases and numerous records on which their voice was heard, had become a huge commercial success for Disney, Caselotti, who had received a one-time fee of $ 970 for 48 days work trying unsuccessfully the Group on to sue royalties.

Adriana Caselotti died on 19 January 1997 at the age of 80 years to cancer.
