Adrianne Pieczonka

Adrianne Pieczonka ( born March 2, 1963) is a Canadian opera singer (soprano ).

She grew up near Toronto to Burlington and graduated from the Opera School of the University of Toronto. Her debut celebrated with the Canadian Opera Company in 1988 in Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. They soon moved to Vienna, where she worked from 1989 at the Volksoper and from 1991 at the Staatsoper. In 1995 she made her debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and 2004 at the Metropolitan Opera as Lisa in Tchaikovsky's Pique Dame. In recent years she worked mainly on the Four Seasons Centre in Toronto.

Although its repertoire ranges from Mozart to Britten to Pieczonka has recently specialized in Wagnerian roles, especially Sieglinde in Die Walküre. In fact, she was praised extensively for Sieglinde in Wagner's Ring of the Canadian Opera Company at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts and debuted in 2006 with this role at the Bayreuth Festival. In 2010 she sang in Paris her first Senta - a role with which she celebrated in 2012 at the Bayreuth Festival, a great success.

In March 2007, Adrianne Pieczonka was awarded the title in Vienna opera singer. Likewise, in 2007 her the title Officer of the Order of Canada was awarded.

Adrianne Pieczonka lives with her wife, the mezzo-soprano Laura Tucker and a daughter in Toronto.
