The experience was made mid-nineties with the vehicles of the first generation ( GTxN / M / S), led to the conception of a revised version, which is called GT8N2. Essential requirements that went in it are:

  • Cost minimization by Interface reduction in the mechanical part between shell, expansion and equipment as well as between the mechanical part and electrical equipment.
  • Consistent standardization
  • Lighter materials

In the design of the redesigned, more angular front is noticeable in the now a separate disk from the front, slightly inclined forward target box is provided, which reduces glare. The front and other elements can be designed to customer requirements free. By changing the bogie design legroom between seats of 475 mm could be increased to at least 600 mm. For weight reduction you went from the traditional welded steel construction for an aluminum hybrid design over.

With the type GT8N2 one is technically the old principle of joint car with Gelenkbeiwagen, but with the difference passenger friendly transitions, arrived. The easy separation of the two car halves simplifies maintenance.
