Aerion

The Aerion Corporation is a US-based company that developed the Aerion SBJ, based at Reno- Tahoe International ( ICAO code: KRNO ) in Reno, Nevada.

History

The Aerion Corporation was founded in 2002 as ASSET ( Affordable Supersonic Transport Executive ) Corporation by Dr. Richard Tracy, who wanted to build a ten -seat supersonic jet itself. In 2004 the company was taken over by Texas billionaire Robert M. Bass and renamed Aerion Corporation.

The company name Aerion goes back to Areion, a miracle horse in Greek mythology.

Products

The company is currently working on a concept for a supersonic aircraft, Aerion SBJ. The market is estimated by the Aerion Corporation to 300 aircraft. The approval of the Aerion SBJ is expected for 2015.
