Aermacchi AL-60

The Aermacchi AL -60 is a lightweight short-range connectivity and multi-purpose aircraft of the Italian company Aermacchi.

History

1959 developed the Lockheed engineer Al Mooney robust bush plane L- 402. Lockheed built but only two prototypes and the U.S. company Kaiser few series copies. The joint venture between Lockheed and the Mexican company Azacarte SAI built a total of 44 machines under the name LASA -60, including specially equipped for agriculture machinery. 1961 acquired Aermacchi Lockheed the license to produce the machine and produced from April 1961 84 machines of the versions AL -60B -1 and B - 2 Santa Maria. In addition to some civilian planes also marketed as AL -60 " Trojan " Military version for the Italian armed forces and some African States was built. The guy still was only a moderate success and was not produced long. The Mexican Aviation Authority bought 18 AL- 60 for the search and rescue service. The military version of AL -60C -5 Conestoga, also with three-point suspension, was in the former Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) delivered to Central Africa, Canada and (as F-5 Trojan ).

Total set forth Aermacchi about 200 machines, of which some are still in use today. For the military al- 60C was found with the South African Atlas Aircraft GmbH, a licensee who sold the machine as C4M Kudu.

Construction

The wings of the high Deckers have trained as normal flaps ailerons and hand-operated Fowler flaps. The fixed tricycle landing gear is made of steel pipe booms and horizontal oil -filled shock absorbers under the cabin floor. The AL -60C had a tailwheel. Pilot and co-pilot sit side by side, behind them is space for two three -seater benches. For the transport of the wounded, the AL -60 two stretchers, one slightly wounded in the seats and a medic can absorb. The main loading port is located on the right side. A second sliding door as an exit for skydivers or for shedding of goods is to the left rear.
