Aeronautical Information Service

The Aeronautical Information Service (English Aeronautical Information Service, AIS ) is responsible for the provision and exchange of information for the planning and execution of flights through publications and consultation before the flight.

Tasks

The tasks of the aeronautical information include, among others, the provision of aeronautical charts, the provision of aeronautical information publications, the collection and analysis of NOTAM ( Notices to Airmen ) and the receipt and processing of flight plans.

The information is used by the air traffic control ( in Germany, DFS, in Austria Austro Control GmbH, Switzerland Skyguide ) provided. The air traffic control reports shall be made at the point where a black 'C' is highlighted on yellow, square base.

For information during the flight, however, is the Flight Information Service ( engl. flight information service, FIS ) responsible.

In Austria by the Vienna Flight Service Station ( VFSS ) ( Central AIS) in Vienna / Schwechat is in addition to the personal flight advice offered an Internet-based aeronautical information service, which includes data ( saved in Europe ) all flight-relevant (including MET service).

Remote connections to www.homebriefing.com there is free on all international Austrian airports and many public and private airfields. This system is operated in cooperation with Switzerland, where these services are available in the same way. Similar systems exist in Germany ( German air traffic control, DFS) and Denmark.
