Afterworld (web series)

Afterworld is an American computer-animated science fiction series by Brent V. Friedman and Michael DeCourcey.

The first broadcast of Afterworld took place on YouTube and Bud.tv on 28 February 2007. In August 2008, the series was launched on MySpace. In addition, at the same time it was shown in Australia in the SciFi Channel and in Germany on ProSieben and sent as a podcast series. The series ends with a cliffhanger that was not resolved.

Action

During a business trip to New York City Russell Shoemaker wakes up in the morning and finds that all electronic devices stop working and all the people have disappeared around him. Later he finds out that about 99 % of the population are simply vanished. Driven by the thought that his wife and his child could have survived, and to the possibility to find out the truth about the disaster, Russel makes his way back to Seattle. On this trip Russel meets friends and enemies. He states that have formed new forms of government and society. An electromagnetic pulse, which is generated by a still active satellite system seems to be the reason that electronics fail, people mutate and develop new forms of energy.
