Agawa River

The Agawa River is a tributary of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada.

The river rises in the lake Agawa Lake north of Lake Superior. He initially flows to the south, but then turns to the west. He reached the border of Lake Superior Provincial Park and head south. The Agawa River now flows over a distance of about 40 km through the Agawa Canyon along a fault zone in the Canadian Shield to the south. Finally, the river turns to the west and reached after a further 10 kilometers from the Lake Superior. The last few kilometers are within the Lake Superior Provincial Park. The Agawa River has a length of about 100 km.

Tourism

The Algoma Central Railway runs along the Agawa Canyon. At mile 114 ( Canyon station ) is a breakpoint, which also serves as a starting point for whitewater kayakers. From here you can 29 km downriver travel up the river mouth. There are rapids of levels I to IV on the track. There are also several portage sites. In the lower reaches of the waterfall is Agawa Falls. Near the mouth of the Agawa Rock is located with petroglyphs.
