Åge Lundström

Johan August " Åge " Lundström ( born June 8, 1890 in Stockholm, † September 26, 1975 in Landskrona ) was a general of the Swedish Air Force and fencing and show jumping and eventing riders.

Army

1910 appointed one Lundström officer and six years later to lieutenant of dragoons Livregementets. In 1924, he was a pilot in the Swedish Air Force captain and 1926. In the same year Lundström received a teaching post at the Royal Army Flying School F 5 Ljungbyhed, Kungliga Krigsflygskolan. In 1931, he was Commanding Officer of the F 4 Frösön, Kungliga Jämtland Flygflottilj, a division of the Air Force. Between 1932 and 1943 he was also Commanding Officer of the Army flight school. In 1948 he was promoted to Chief of Staff of the troops Folke Bernadotte in Palestine.

Sports

In 1914, Lundström was Swedish Fencing Championships. Between 1919 and 1921 he was riding trainer in Strömsholms. He participated in two Olympic Games. For those in Antwerp in 1920, he secured on his horse Ysra eventing with the team the gold medal and finished in a single second. In individual show jumping, it was only a 14th place on Eros.

Four years later, at the 1924 Olympics in Paris Lundström won on Anvers with the Dutch team Jumping. In individual show jumping, he finished tenth.
