Agencja Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego

The Agencja Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego ( German: Internal Security Agency, shortly ABW) is the Polish domestic intelligence service based in Warsaw. As a government institution for the Polish domestic security as he tries to neutralize threats to the Polish state apparatus in time.

Tasks

The tasks of the ABW include:

  • Reconnaissance and neutralization of threats to the internal security of the Polish state and its constitution. This includes the protection of the constitution, independence, sovereignty and the inviolability of the Polish territory
  • Detection and prosecution of criminal offenses in the areas of Organized crime
  • Offenses against the financial policy of the State
  • Corruption by public officials or public employees
  • Production processes and trade with goods, technologies and services of strategic importance to the security of Poland
  • Illegal production, possession and sale of firearms, ammunition, explosives, weapons of mass destruction and psychotropic substances

Structure

  • Departament for tele- information technology security ( Departament I)
  • Departament counter- Enlightenment ( Departament II)
  • Departament prosecution ( Departament III) consisting, inter alia, from Department for ensuring the implementation of anti-terrorism measures

The ABW has 15 regional offices and is headed by Krzysztof Bondaryk since 16 January 2008. 2008 it was announced that the ABW plans to address all letters in Poland to scan. Thus, a database should be set up, whose data are graphologisch evaluated. The equipment of the Polish Post with relevant scanners should cost 250 million zloty.
