Aghjabadi District
Ağcabədi (also Aghjabadi ) is a rayon in Azerbaijan. Capital is the city Ağcabədi. 1885, the composer Üzeyir Hacibəyov was born in this region.
Geography
The rayon has an area of 1756 km ². The scenery is part of the lowlands of the river Kura, which flows through the area. Another major river of the district is the Qaraçay. In the Rayon Aggel is National Park.
Economy
The region is dominated by agriculture. It is one of the major cotton-growing regions of Azerbaijan.
Population
The population is 96.2 % of Azerbaijanis. The rayon in 2009 had about 121,300 inhabitants.
Culture
In the region several archaeological sites from the Neolithic period, antiquity and the Middle Ages exist. These lie in Kamiltepe, Nargiztepe, Garagobar, Shakhtepe and Galatepe.
In place Aşağı Avşar the Mir Ali mausoleum from the 13th century.
Traffic
Through the rayon the trunk road Lənkəran leads to ganja.
