Agidel

Agidel (Russian Агидель; Bashkir Ағиҙел, translates to " White River ," by which is meant the Belaya ) is a Russian city in the Republic of Bashkortostan in the Volga Federal District with a population of 16,370 (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located 1000 km due east of Moscow, in the northwest of Bashkortostan, near the border with the Republic of Tatarstan, about 45 km south of Neftekamsk, on the Belaya, which flows about 25 km further into the Kama.

History

The settlement was established in 1980 in connection with the construction of the unfinished nuclear power plant resulted in Bashkiria and in 1991 received a city charter.

Traffic

Agidel has connection to the past leading in about 50 km distance railway main connecting Kazan - Yekaterinburg, about 20 km away highway III to Perm and Yekaterinburg, as well as on the water on the Belaya, Kama and Volga to the Caspian Sea.
