AGL Energy is an Australian company and the end-user of the largest Australian provider of gas and electricity, with over six million customers. The company's headquarters is located in St Leonards, in North Sydney Council. AGL Energy is listed on the Australian stock market index S & P / ASX 50, with a market capitalization of about 4.8 billion Australian dollar and a Standard & Poor's awarded credit rating of BBB.

The company was founded as the Australian Gas Light Company in Sydney in 1837. According to a series of restructuring, together with the company Alinta in 2006, the successor company adopted its present name AGL Energy. In recent years the company has invested in renewable energy such as wind farms and hydro-electric plant in Victoria's High Country.
