Aglepristone (trade name Alizin ® ad us. Vet. ) Is employed in veterinary medicine synthetic anti-hormone. Is a derivative of Mifepristons used in human medicine.

Operation

The drug is approved for dogs and cats.

Aglepristone is a so-called anti-progestin, a hormone -like steroid, which has a high binding ability ( affinity) of progesterone receptors, but not progesterone effect. Since it blocks the receptors for this hormone to the uterus (womb), it can not achieve its, the pregnancy -maintaining effect. The blood level of progesterone is not affected.

Use

Dog
