Aglientu

Aglientu ( galluresisch Santu Franciscu d' aglientu ) is a municipality in the province of Olbia- Tempio in the Italian region Sardinia with 2144 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Aglientu lies in the historical region of Gallura, northern Sardinia on a typical landscape for this granite hill just a few kilometers from the coast. The inhabitants are distributed in the same nucleus, and located on the coast districts of Porto Bello, Monti Russu Littigheddu and Vignola Mare. The neighboring municipalities are Aggius, Luogosanto, Santa Teresa Gallura, Tempio Pausania and Trinità d' Agultu e Vignola.

History

Neolithic relics and numerous Nuraghes point to an early settlement of the area around Aglientu.
