Agnes of Meissen

Agnes of Meissen ( * before 1264, † by September 1332 ) was a daughter of Albert II ( the degenerate ) and Margaretha von Staufen.

She was married (before 1284) with Henry the Freakish of Brunswick- Grubenhagen and is the mother of Adelheit Irene ( 1293-1324 ), the first wife of the Byzantine Emperor Andronikos III. Agnes was considered a patron of literature. This became the father of a certain level of education of the nobility. Whether they have actually read manuscripts with the epics themselves, is uncertain. It is certain that the most noble people had in their services that were of reading and writing powerful. This was usually the Hofkleriker, which was used as a writer for documents.
