Agon-Coutainville

Agon- Coutainville is a commune with 2842 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region.

Geography

Agon- Coutainville lies on the Atlantic coast of the Cotentin Peninsula, about 10 kilometers west of Coutances. Important districts are Agon and Coutainville. Neighboring towns are Blainville- sur -Mer, Saint- Malo -de- la-Lande and Tourville- sur -Sienne. The stretch of coastline where the location is situated is also called the Côte des Havre. South of the town are the nature reserve Pointe d' Agon, the southern boundary of the municipality forms the estuary of the river Sienne.

The community Agon- Coutainville is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes du canton de Saint- Malo -de- la-Lande. Your present name the community since 1965 when it renamed itself after Agon Agon- Coutainville.

History

The history of the villages and Agon Coutainville dates back to the Middle Ages. In the district of Agon there was at that time a castle that was used to protect the harbor of Regnéville.

To the 15th century around the manor house was built by Coutainville.
