Agostino Busti

Agostino Busti known as Bambaja (* 1483 in Busto Arsizio, † 1548 in Milan ) was an Italian sculptor of the Renaissance.

Life

He was born near Milan and received his education in Padua. Later part of the master circle of Certosa di Pavia. 1513 he completed in Milan the tomb of the poet Lancino Curzio, and in 1515 he took over the execution of that of Gaston de Foix.

Further works were Bambajas Bua Memorial in Treviso, as well as the graves of Caracciolo and Vimercati in the Cathedral of Milan. Later single figures of these graves have been removed. Bambajas style is elegant and emphasizes the ornaments.
