Agrarian law

The agrarian laws describe the laws of Roman politicians (especially the second / first century BC) to support small farmers, whose existence was threatened by the increasing large estates. Especially the brothers Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus sought to limit the expansion of large estates by the Gracchan reform named after them and reallocate state land among the poorer peasants. However, they failed due to the opposition of the wealthy classes.
