Aharon Abuhatzira

Aharon Abuchazira (Hebrew אהרן אבוחצירא, born October 28, 1938 in Tafilalet ) is a former Israeli politician who was from 1974 to 1992 Member of the Knesset and held in the years 1977 to 1982 various ministerial posts.

The scion of a highly respected Jewish family from Morocco to Israel came in 1949 when his father, the famous Rabbi Yisrael Abuhatzeira, also known as Baba Sali, according to the Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel and his family left Morocco. His father later became Chief Rabbi of Ramla, where Aharon Abuchazira grew up. He attended a yeshiva and then studied at Bar- Ilan University history and Hebrew literature. He then worked as a teacher.

Political career

1969 began his political career in the National Religious Party (NRP or Mafdal ) and Aaron Abuchazira was first elected to the City Council of Ramla, where he held the office of mayor from 1972 to 1977. The organized on 31 December 1973 elections to the Knesset 8, which lasted from January 21 1974 until June 13, 1977 he was a candidate for the National Religious Party, the third largest with 10 seats fraction. In the subsequent 9 Knesset (June 13, 1977 to July 20, 1981), the NRP involved in the coalition government led by Menachem Begin ( Likud ) and received two ministries: the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Josefsburg already in the previous government had held, and the Ministry of Religion, whose new leader Aharon Abuchazira was. From 1977 to 1981 he was Minister of religions and from 1981 to 1982 he was Minister for the reception of immigrants and from 1981 to 1982 he was Minister for Labour and Welfare.
