Ahfad University for Women

15.644785532.4715197Koordinaten: 15 ° 38 ' 41 "N, 32 ° 28' 17 " O The Ahfad University for Women, English Ahfad University for Women, AUW, (Arabic: جامعة الأحفاد للبنات ) is a private university in Omdurman, Sudan, the only female students is open. It is located around 15 kilometers north- west of the capital Khartoum.

It was founded in 1966 with the objectives to provide training opportunities for women, to strengthen the role of women, especially in rural development, and to promote the equality of women in Sudan. Currently, the Ahfad University has about 5000 enrolled students.

Despite their small size, AUW is very well networked internationally; inter alia, there is an annual Summer School in cooperation with the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Free University of Berlin and a regular exchange program also with universities in Berlin.

Structure

The AUW is divided into six faculties ( schools ):

  • The School of Family Sciences ( Family Studies )
  • The School of Psychology and Preschool Education ( Psychology and Vorschul-Erziehung/Bildung )
  • The School of Organizational Management ( organizational management )
  • The School of Rural Extension, Education and Development ( Rural Development )
  • The School of Medicine ( Medicine )
  • The School of Pharmacy ( Pharmaceutics )

In addition to undergraduate studies ( Bachelor studies), two master's degree programs are offered in Human Nutrition (human nutrition) and Gender and Development ( Gender and Development).
